The building itself is an awesome two story replica of the Titanic. At 100 feet tall, it is a half scale of the
original and it is impressive. The end of the ship is positioned right up to the street and with the help of a fountain, it looks as if it is speeding through the water. You are greeted by a uniformed crew member who awards you with a boarding pass of an actual passenger of the Titanic's voyage. After you purchase your tickets, you turn to a wall of an iceberg. You are encouraged to rub your hands on it to feel it's authenticity.
This museum is full of information, both documentation and pictures. There is a lot of reading in every gallery. If you are taking small children who are not able to read or can not read well, this may seem a bit daunting. Be sure to rent a hand held audio tour quid for $5.00 to help keep their interest. Your tour of the Titanic includes real stories of the passengers and crew and authentic memorabilia. Clothes, letters, jewelry, trunks and life vests are just a few of the items on display. You will see an 18 foot replica model of the Titanic, view the Captain's bridge, peek into authentic sleeping quarters and look inside the first class dining salon.
